Canadian Pacific "Empress" #2816 & Sunset Limited - Belaire, Texas 5/25/24
This is a short clip. We were unable to keep up with 2816 due to scarce location information. This is a no horn zone, so she didn't blow her whistle. Before that the Sunset Limited rolled right on through there.

84HP Corvair Engine - Will It Run?

We're doing a quick test of an 84HP Corvair engine that we received for free doing some work. It had one cylinder that was down to 30 PSI on a dry leakdown test, while most of the others were well above 100 PSI. With some oil it came up a lot. Steam Day - Texas Transportation Museum

It was the steam day at the Texas Transportation museum. The little engine is pretty peppy, although it has a valve timing problem. After that day they took it down to do some annual work and inspections on it, so hopefully it'll be running better than ever soon.

Cushman 4HP Model C Engine - First Start - A Hop, A Skip & A Jump

This was the first start of the Cushman 4HP Model C "Cornbinder" farm engine. It's a throttle governed engine, not a hit and miss. She was a little jumpy. LOL. It died almost immediately after the video ended, so don't worry about anyone getting hurt.

This video was shot November 10th, 2019 between the towns of Pinehurst, Magnolia, and Navasota, Texas. We chased Union Pacific's living legend, Big Boy #4014. The UP, Ed Dickens and the rest of the steam crew really put on a show for us.

I have been on that train many times and Christmas and I also remember the western gun fight and one or two times they gave me the casings from a bullet

Jeez that is HIDEOUS! At least it looks like a locomotive, though, unlike that ... thing ... that's now running in Zilker Park in Austin again.
That's a Cummins diesel, isn't it? Will the park ever bring back Gretta? I miss its unique whistle!
I believe it is. More specifically a 5.9L 12 valve. They keep talking about bringing Gretta back, but stuff keeps getting in the way. I think they have most of the parts to get her going, but the train currently in service is keeping maintenance's hands full.
Knew it! Haha! Thank you. One time in 2019 or 2021, crews placed a small engine generator on top of the “drive car”. I can understand that ol’ 5.9L is doing its best!
@@chasem8491 Generally any kind of generator is not for actually powering anything on the train. The train is actually just a standard automotive 12v system using the diesel's alternator. Any generator is usually for Christmas lights or other ornaments and effects like smoke machines during Fright Fest.
@@railsrust Ah just kidding. Thanks for clarifying! Was it true there was one point in time where crews tried to convert Gretta to run vegetable oil?
@@Chasem7981 That's actually why she isn't running. From one of the older engineers, he said that they tried to convert Kitty over and blew up the motor. They just stole Gretta's tender with working engine to keep Kitty running.

Everyone saying its ugly paint job but it has to be high visibility for good reasons. Someone trys to sue after being a dumbarse and getting hit by it the insurance companies will say "seriously you didn't hear the bells, whistles, engine, and didn't see the psychedelic collors"

Fantastic Geep. Hideous paint scheme! Not sure who put those colors together but it ain’t pretty. I’ve had the privilege of riding that amazing railroad a couple of times when visiting San Antonio. Beautiful park and a huge layout. Please put a more realistic, and less garish, paint scheme on it. Maybe an SP or Santa Fe scheme. Either way, keep up the good work. You have an amazing railroad there!

If you think this zoo has a lot of incompetence, look at the Forest Park Miniature Railroad. Only opened late last year and it's now down again because of maintenance issues. And while the CPH units were fun, engineers will most likely enjoy the enclosed cab now. Thankfully my zoo is still operating CPH units; there have been talks of switching to electric but I don't like those as much due to the fact that they are not equipped with real whistles/horns.
